🌱 Connecting with the Community at the NC Rice Festival
On Saturday, March 7, Brunswick County Extension Master Gardener℠ Volunteers hosted a booth at the NC Rice Festival, held at the historic Brunswick Town/Fort Anderson State Historic Site along the Cape Fear River.
The NC Rice Festival celebrates the region’s rich Gullah-Geechee heritage and the historic role rice cultivation played in the Cape Fear region — a legacy that helped shape the culture and economy of coastal North Carolina. The festival brought together vendors, artisans, musicians, and community members for a day of cultural celebration in the beautiful setting of this historic site.
Our Master Gardener booth stayed busy throughout the day, welcoming about 70 visitors who stopped by to learn more about gardening and upcoming programs. Volunteers shared information about the Spring Online Plant Sale and introduced attendees to the Brunswick County Master Gardener Program, helping connect community members with resources to grow their gardening knowledge and skills.
A heartfelt thank you to the volunteers who represented BCEMGVA at the event: Tracey M., Vicki F., Lisa S., Gail C., Kelly V., Wanda M., Michele T., Mike T., and Cecily L..
Events like the NC Rice Festival are a wonderful opportunity to share our love of gardening while connecting with the broader Brunswick County community.
