🎓Welcome to Our Newest MG Interns!

Please join us in welcoming the newest class of Brunswick County Extension Master Gardenerâ„  interns!

Fifteen enthusiastic gardeners have recently completed the Master Gardener training program offered through N.C. Cooperative Extension in Brunswick County. During this course, participants explored a wide range of horticulture topics—from soils and plant nutrition to insects, plant diseases, and sustainable gardening practices—all based on the research and expertise of NC State Extension.

As part of the program, each intern successfully completed the coursework and passed a final exam, demonstrating their growing knowledge of research-based gardening practices.

But the learning doesn’t stop there.

To become certified Extension Master Gardener volunteers, interns also complete 40 hours of volunteer service, applying what they’ve learned while supporting Extension programs and educational outreach in the community.

Our newest interns have already jumped right in. As their class project, they are working together to update the educational signs in the Brunswick County Botanical Gardens. This project will help make the gardens an even better learning space for visitors while giving interns hands-on experience working with plant information and garden design.

Over the coming months, you’ll see these interns volunteering at a variety of Master Gardener activities—helping in the gardens, supporting educational events, and sharing science-based gardening knowledge with the community.

We are excited to have this talented and dedicated group join our program and look forward to watching them grow as volunteers.
