👏Steady Leader, Trusted Friend: Honoring Kate Boggess

For the month of February we are recognizing Kate Boggess as our Master Gardener of the Month.

Kate brings calm, organized leadership and a clear vision to every project she undertakes. She creates a welcoming environment where volunteers feel comfortable sharing ideas and know their voices are truly heard. Kate has a remarkable ability to listen thoughtfully to different perspectives and then establish clear processes that help projects move forward efficiently.

She has also been willing to take on challenging but important work for the good of the organization. One example is her leadership in updating Association guidelines—an effort that required careful attention, collaboration, and a commitment to strengthening our foundation for the future.

During her time as president, Kate introduced the Helping Hands Award, creating a meaningful way for our Association to recognize and celebrate the contributions of fellow volunteers. In doing so, she helped establish a tradition of appreciation that continues today.

Kate is currently serving as a co-lead for the Botanical Garden, where she has already provided thoughtful leadership and guidance. Her steady presence, willingness to listen, and ability to bring people together are helping move this important project forward.

Above all, Kate is a trusted friend, a thoughtful listener, and a source of wise guidance for many in our Master Gardener community.

We are grateful for Kate’s leadership and dedication, and we are delighted to recognize her as this month’s Helping Hands honoree.
