😊Friendly Smile, Steadfast Service: Honoring Gayle Pfeiffer

For the month of November we are recognizing Gayle Pfeiffer as our Master Gardener of the Month.

Gayle has put in many years of devoted work as a Master Gardener volunteer. Many of you know her as the organizer of our Field Trip Fridays. Some of you may have even received greeting cards from her hand as our Sunshine Committee Chair—a position she has held for four years!

On most Wednesdays, you can find her in the Reflection Garden, where she is currently a lead. Other roles over the years include chairing the BG Committee, the Nominations Committee, the Sunshine Committee, and serving as a lead in the Edible Landscape Design Garden, which has the largest individually propagated plant material in the entire Botanical Garden. She also participated in judging the 4-H trials, assisted in refurbishing the directional markers on the garden signpost, and offers her green thumb to other gardeners and gardens as needed. Most recently, she helped in the Rose Garden when Anne was recovering and tending to her own family.

When she isn’t in the garden, she is often out seeing the world—she has quite the travel bug! Possibly from her 22 years in the Air Force, now a retired Lieutenant Colonel! I’m told she brings her military experience and dedication to all the work she has done for the Association, and when she leads a meeting, you almost feel like saluting. 👏

“The best part about Gayle is her can-do attitude. Well… that is not the best part, really. The best part is that she always does things in a friendly way and with a smile. She exemplifies what a good MG volunteer should be—and IS.”
