🥗Grow Your Own Salad Bowl Workshop Success
Our first-ever “Grow Your Own Salad Bowl Workshop” was a resounding success! 🌱 A big thank-you goes to Candice Sieben and Jeannie Tien for leading both the morning and afternoon sessions, and to our Propagation Team for supplying the beautiful, healthy lettuce plants that made each container shine. Forty-four participants joined us to learn about growing cool-season greens in containers—raising an impressive $1,565 to support future educational programs.
Participants learned how to combine lettuce varieties, specialty greens, herbs, and edible flowers to create beautiful, productive containers that thrive in fall and early spring. The sessions blended education and creativity, beginning with a short demonstration on container gardening and followed by hands-on planting. Master Gardener℠ Volunteers were on hand to answer questions, offer guidance, and share practical tips for keeping greens vibrant and healthy throughout the season.
The feedback says it all: attendees praised “the valuable information on watering and fertilization,” “the quality of the plants,” and “the wonderful, helpful, and inspiring presenters.” Many commented that they appreciated the personalized attention, the detailed handouts, and the chance to be creative while learning.
It was a joyful day of learning, planting, and community—proof that a little soil, teamwork, and imagination can go a long way toward growing something fresh and delicious! 🥬
