šŸA Buzzworthy Morning: Building Bee Hotels Together

The Backyard Bee Hotel Workshop was a buzzing success!

On a bright Friday morning in July, the Extension training room was filled with energy, creativity, and curiosity as 17 children joined their parents and grandparents for the Backyard Bee Hotel Workshop. The morning blended just the right amount of learning with plenty of hands-on building, painting, and fun.

Participants learned about the many types of bees and their essential role in pollination and our food system, then decorated their own bee hotels to take home and install in their backyards. The group also enjoyed a visit to the two bee hotels in the Sunny Native Garden, giving families a chance to see how these structures support native pollinators in real garden settings.

Feedback has been overwhelmingly positive, with many families asking for more youth-focused workshops in the future. A heartfelt thank-you to the Master Gardenerā„  Volunteers and Extension staff whose enthusiasm, expertise, and guidance made this workshop such a memorable and meaningful experience.

🌼 Proceeds from the workshop support Cooperative Extension outreach programs.
